Oh, my dogness…I can hardly believe my furry ears. My hair must be hanging down over my eyes again, blocking correct viewing. But wait – Mom says it’s true. Can it be? Gary and my BFF Penny the Jack Russell dog, from Klahanie, have honored me with another award? Cody and his mom Caren, from Cat Chat with Caren, have also honored me with the same one? Pardon me while I pass out.
Okay, so I haven’t passed out. Might as well have, though, for how shocked and awed I feel. Yep, shock and awe. Get George W. on the phone. BOL Seriously, I think the world of Gary, and of course you know how I feel about Penny. To be honored with an award from them is truly pawtastic!
Then there’s Caren and Cody, two more great friends. Three, if you count Dakota. He’s the most important one in their family, being a dog. Don’t tell Cody I said that. Cats get a bit hissy on that sort of thing. Caren doesn’t usually write about awards, but she did with this one. Can you imagine how special I feel to be one of the recipients?
Well, I guess here’s where we follow through on our responsibilities in accepting this auspicious award. The Irresistably Sweet Blog Award – hoooow sweet it is! The rules are that we tell you seven things about us, forward this yummy award on to 15 deserving recipients, then let them know they’ve been awarded. We’re deviating from this slightly, you’ll see why. It’s a compromise; sometimes that’s the best compliment.
I’ve decided to make Mom dish out secrets about her this time; I’m feeling a bit shy today. So here goes – Mom?
- Following in Gary’s footsteps, a little something about me when I was a child. I was born in Chicago, living in a rather dangerous neighborhood until almost 9, when my family moved to the high-falutin’ suburbs. I never really adjusted from the move. Once a city girl, always a city girl.
- That being said, my fantasy all while growing up was to live on a farm – a big green spread with tons of kids and animals. I’ve gotten the kids and animals part done…
- I was born a southpaw – extremely so. Even other lefties are amazed at how left-handed I am. I swear I’m even left-eared and left-legged.
- My southpaw aunt told my mom it was crucial that school let me be myself, so Mom insisted the Catholic nuns allow me my handicap. It was true heresy back then, and they relentlessly punished me for it, but I was allowed to write with the “wrong” hand.
- In high school, as always in my life, I was a klutz – the furthest from being athletic. My gym teacher actually gave me a C once when I’d earned an F, because I had tried so darn hard and because she’d “never been so entertained by any other student”. A comedienne without even trying.
- I grew up painfully shy. Drama classes in high school helped me get past that. The painful part, anyway.
- I was in Girl Scouts until I was 14 years old. I’m always prepared. You should see the contents of my purse.
Make sure you stop by Cat Chat With Caren and Cody; and if you’re a dog person, you can catch Caren (and Dakota) over at Dakota’s Den. You can find Gary at Klahanie; he’s been going through quite a rough time lately, and sure could use a little cheering up. Please stop by and give him a virtual hug.
Thank you, Caren and Cody (and Dakota).
From the bottom of our hearts, we appreciate the honor of receiving this sweet award!
Congrats on your award! I am a klutz too!
I love seeing award posts because it’s so fun to learn new things about folks I read.
I didn’t know you considered yourself a city girl but that definitely explains the irreverent sense of humor you show off on Facebook. ๐ You don’t laugh at the kinds of things I associate with my rural and suburban friends.
Great choices for the awards–all favorites of mine too.
Congrats on your sweeeeet award, and TU for passing it along to me too! yippeeee!
Funny you are a city gal, and I’m a country girl. I grew up in Vermont and I miss the country so much.
Congrats, my friend!
@Hilary – it’s amazing how much we have in common! I’d never thought you as one; all those gorgeous high-heeled shoes…lol…then again, I’ve always been one to walk around in them, too. Thanks for stopping by!
@Pamela – Ha! Yep, quite a ‘tude here. And a Chicago one at that, which only accentuates it, I’m afraid. I have so much fun with Facebook! Guess it shows. :O Thank you, I love these blogs!
You’re most welcome, Peggy, and most deserving of it. I miss the country, too. Yet I’ve never lived in it!
@Doreen – Thank you very much ๐
Congratulations on the well-deserved award! And thank you so much for passing it along to us. Were lucky to have the opportunity to travel the country and write about our adventures – to receive awards for it too is almost too much.
Thank you, Amy. Your travels are a treat for all of us who follow along virtually with you, and you are most well-deserving of the award!
Greetings CindyLu and greetings to your human, Kim,
It was our total honour to bestow this award upon the both of you. I would say that you cannot begin to imagine just how much your kindness, support and encouragement has meant to us.
I want to thank you for sharing some facts about your life. So, I reckon this makes you a girl from Chicago who wanted to live on a farm with her kids and animals; is a southpaw and that was considered heresy by the nuns; was a bit of klutz in PE; got through her shyness, to some degree, by taking drama classes and will always be, at heart, a ‘be prepared’, Girl Scout ๐
Many congrats to those you have forwarded this award onto. And many thanks for cheering me up. You two are real special ๐
With kindness Gary and doggy kisses, your way, Penny xx
Yes, Gary, that about sums it up. lol I do hope your situation improves – dramatically – very, very soon for you. You deserve the best!
Thank you, and with kindness as well.
Congrats on the award. ๐ I love that your mom made sure you got to remain a lefty – my dad has horror stories about his school days on that front!
Thanks, Pup Fan! I feel for your dad; my aunt’s horror stories are what convinced my mom it would be important! It’s hard enough, being lefty in a world of righty!
Congrats on the award! And BTW, living on a farm is seriously overrated..
