Playmate Police Dog

Mom came across this story the other day, and she’s still chucklin’ about it. A police dog in Ohio – and not just any police dog, she’s a certified narcotics dog – has made the big time.

 After Geauga County’s Sheriff McClelland repeatedly received messages that his dog Midge was in the new Playboy issue, he finally checked it out. Although he never received any contact from anyone requesting permission for her appearance in the magazine, he says there’s no mistaking it’s her. The article also mentions her name and that she works for Geauga County.

Midge is not some fancy, hoity-toity purebred; she’s a mix of chihuahua and rat terrier. But she’s the smallest certified working police dog in the world, holding the Guinness world record.

Her size works to her advantage, being able to sniff out tight or small spaces. Most certified canines tend to be on the larger size, precluding them from such areas. And although she’s been featured in many sources of media, the Playboy magazine is perhaps her finest hour to date. Is she adorable, or what???

Sheriff McClelland says that he’s getting a lot of ribbing about what it’s like to hang out with a Playmate; he jokes, “Somehow I thought it might be a little more exciting than it has been.” One local Clevelander, Robin Latkovich, when interviewed by the reporter of the article in Fox 8, responded “I just read it for the articles about dogs, the dog articles”. Seems everyone’s having a good laugh over this.

What I want to know is…when is Playboy going to call me?
