It being Halloween weekend and all, I thought this fella was fitting for this week’s feature. Casper…the Cat. He must have a bit of defiant rebel in him, though, since he’s really not quite like his name implies.

If you were thinking Casper is the one on the left – well, guess again. He’s the timid one on the right. See those big eyes peeking out from behind his brother? Poor guy, he’s a bit frightened! Here’s what his foster mom has to say about him:
Casper is a very special cat. Sadly, he was stressed in his last home and is very cautious with people right now, especially with men. Once you earn his trust, he becomes the friendliest, cuddliest cat you could know! Casper is the sweetest cat ever and he will melt your heart when he looks at you with his big yellow eyes.
He grew up with his brother, Maxx, who is also available for adoption.

We’ve talked many times before here about the plight of black homeless cats, their diminished chances of being adopted and the stigmas unfairly tagged to them. Those of us who’ve had the privilege of sharing life with a black cat know what an indescribable treasure they can be.
Black cats deserve love too. And Casper? Don’t you think he deserves a second chance, with someone this time around who will ensure he feels safe and loved?

If you live in the Chicagoland area, and think you might be that special Someone who can make life good for Casper, he’s waiting for you at Almost Home Foundation. Casper is healthy, up-to-date with vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and litterbox trained. He just needs a bright future now.
soooo beautiful!
We love black cats here. We have three of them and they really have just the best personalities. All three are just really nice cats. One is a feral cat but he does let me pat him a little bit. I hope that Casper finds a wonderful home. Take care.
Both are so beautiful, and I hope they find forever homes soon
Two gorgeous ones fur sure!
Dear Kim, I’ve lived with many cats but never a fully black one. Ellis is a brindle and that’s as close as I’ve come. The lack is not because I’ve never wanted a black cat but simply because the shelters where I’ve gone–in Minnesota and here in Missouri have never had a black cat up for adoption. Casper is certainly beautiful and I hope someone around Chicago adopts him. Peace.
