There’s something almost mystical about a white cat, isn’t there? A touch of mystery, nuances of the ethereal…and yet, they’re cats just like any other. That’s not easy to say about Dove, though; her delicate nature and sweet personality truly make her special. That she is hearing-impaired only adds to her charm.

Here’s what her foster mom has to say about her:
Dove is a beautiful snow-white cat with a calm and quiet personality. She is friendly and likes people, but takes her time to fully befriend someone. She likes receiving attention and being petted — just as long as she can still have some “alone time” throughout the day, too.
Dove has a very happy demeanor. She has a silly side, loves snuggling in knitted blankets, and likes to roll around blissfully on the tile with all four paws in the air! She actually appears to be wearing a grin sometimes. She is an adult cat, but still has spunk and likes to play, too!
Dove is not completely deaf, but definitely has some hearing impairment. Because of this, she would do best as the only pet in her forever home. She startles very easily with other cats and tends to act very defensive around them — likely because she cannot hear them approach her. She would be much happier, and much more comfortable, if she was the only cat in her home. She has never been exposed to dogs.

Dove was born in May 2008 and is spayed, litterbox trained, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. She is also declawed on her front paws. If you are looking to adopt a calm, sweet-natured cat who will be your only princess, Dove would love to meet you! If you are in the Chicagoland area and interested in adopting her, please contact us at cats@almosthomefoundation.org. Thank you!

Beautiful white cat. Being friendly and comforting is definitely a plus, too. It is sort of sad that she’s hearing impaired but I look at it in a positive way… or try to. Having had many cats of my own, (one of them, completely deaf) the one pro about a cat being partially or entirely deaf is, is that they are less afraid and/or skittish around certain things that would freak out a cat with normal hearing. For instance, our cat that was entirely deaf, didn’t run and hide because of the sounds of a thunderstorm. Instead, it looked out the window, curious about the lightning strikes she saw. That’s the only cat I’ve ever had that was unafraid of thunderstorms.
