It’s really very simple. I’m one of the lucky ones – I’ve been owned by a black cat. More than one, actually. My life’s been blessed with the rich personalities, goofy antics, amazing intelligence, and unending love of black cats. Black cats rule.
Pictured above is Asti, a young guy who’s ready to leave Mama and strike out in his own Forever Home. He and his siblings, along with their mom, were dumped at a high-kill shelter. Brought there in a box. Thankfully, one of our rescue’s volunteers happened by.
High-kill shelter is just that; a high rate of killing those that enter their doors. Black cats are among the first to be chosen for which to be put down. Why? Because for some inane reason, people tend to adopt the “pretty ones”, the ones with color or patterns, and leave the black beauties behind.

So Asti is very grateful to Almost Home Foundation for saving his life, and giving him a chance for a real future. He’s healthy, vaccinated, neutered and microchipped – now all he needs is someone to love and his life will be complete. If you’re in the Chicagoland area and interested in Asti, he’s waiting for you. Contact cats@almosthomefoundation.org or visit Almost Home Foundation for more information.
Come on peoples, some adopt this handsome boy!
Yeah, listen to Brian – he’s the Mancat! 🙂
Here’s wishing that Asti, who has had such a young traumatic life, gets a loving home, very soon.
I have posted this up to the various social networks and I hope it might help.
It’s Saturday the 14th, here. We made it! 🙂
Thank you Gary – well, at least we know you’re safe over in the UK! LOL
I’ve always heard people ascribe different personality traits to cats based on their color. Apparently black cats are supposedly playful and affectionate.
I don’t know if that’s based on anything. But Honey’s kitty friend who sometimes walks with us is black.
I hope Asti finds a great home soon.
There are indeed some generalities you can ascribe to cats by their color/coat pattern, it must be something with the genetics. You’re absolutely right, Pamela, that describes your typical black cat.
Honey has great taste in friends!
