On July 23, thousands of bloggers and activists on social media venues will be joining together. Their goal: to raise awareness of how those who want to make a difference in the lives of homeless dogs can, in ways they’re best suited for, assist dog rescues or the dogs themselves. Mark your calendar and plan on doing something that day.
Blog Catalog, Dog Rescue Success, and the community of Be the Change for Animals will join forces on a day marked for the benefit of rescues. Bloggers will blog, others will post stories, articles, blog posts to their Facebook and Twitter. July 23rd will be dedicated to rescues and the animals they serve. And hey – let’s not forget our feline friends, either. They’re in the same predicament humans have placed the dogs in.
The needs of rescues are great, resources and funding are often scarce, and there is always an unending, unrelenting population of animals in need. Dogs and cats are routinely, and needlessly, killed due to overcrowding. Overcrowding is the result of societal ignorance and apathy, and the greed of puppy mills and irresponsible breeders who churn out puppies for pet shops. And yes, there are kitty mills, too.
There are so many different ways a person can do something positive for rescue animals. Anything from donating funds or supplies, crafting items which can be used by the animals or to sell for fundraising – to fostering in your home or even adopting. There are countless other ways as well, limited only by your imagination. Rescues are in dire need of help, since most if not all of their staff are volunteer, there is always a need for more helping hands.
We can all do something to make this world a better place and the importance of how we care for our animals is paramount. There are no acceptable excuses, but many possible solutions. See you on the 23rd!
It’s Blog the Change day – when you can make a difference, be the change for animals!

My brother Dakota will be participating for sure! Not sure about me yet, but maybe!!! Love, Cody
I’ll be in it too – can’t wait to read everyone’s great posts that day. Hope it makes a difference in the lives of many homeless dogs.
Hopefully, it will help a great number of homeless pets. Homeless pets have reached such epidemic proportions, it’s so sad. We can all Be the Change, even if it’s saving one animal at a time. I think these campaigns are an excellent way to keep more folks informed.
I hope this is so successful beyond everyone’s wildest dreams, they all deserve it!
Hey Cindy Lu, Jet here.
As an adopted K9, this topic is near and dear to my heart. We’ll post about it this week. We had another cause dear to us today, so, we posted on that for B4TC.
Thanks so much for Blogging the Change, Kim, by spreading the word about the July 23rd dog rescue event. And cats are equally important. I couldn’t agree more! With folks like you promoting this special day, it’s sure to be a success!
Thanks for all you do for BTC, on Facebook, your blog and in every way you spread the word!!

You hit the nail on the head– it is greed of puppy mills and businesses that perpetuate this horrible situation. Why don’t they see this is real, feeling, breathing, loving lives we’re dealing with.
