We make no bones about it here – we love Icky the Ugly Dog. He’s the coolest. He’s a champ in so many ways to us, whether or not he wins a contest. But winning means raising funds to help fellow dogs in need, so…Go, Icky!!

It was a privilege to have had the chance to review the documentary that Icky starred in (okay, so there were some other cool canine stars in it, too! BOL). Worst In Show was awesome to watch. And it was an honor to have the chance to actually speak with Icky and Jon, and learn more about who they really are and what they’re all about. They really care about other dogs and people, and do their darnedest in any way possible to help whenever and however they can.
So what have they been up to lately? Well, they’ve taken in a new foster dog. They’ve competed in the online (unofficial) voting contest for the annual World’s Ugliest Dog. And they made their television debut last week! You can view an edited version of Worst In Show below (some really great parts of the documentary were cut for the televised version, so to get the full experience we still strongly recommend snagging the DVD!).
And now Jon and Icky are forming a team and collecting donations for the 2012 Doggy Dash, which benefits the Sacramento SPCA. For the 19th year, thousands of humans and some of their dogs will attend this event. With 2K and 5K walks, they’ll be raising funds that will help rescue animals. There couldn’t possibly be a more noble and worthy cause!

2012 Doggy Dash |
If you’ll be in the Sacramento, California area on June 9th – register, plan on attending this pawsome event. You’ll see from the link to the Doggy Dash that there are a bunch of other activities in addition to the walks. It sure sounds like a fun day!
Psst! – Jon and Icky need our help. Here’s how you can help them:
- They’re looking for team members and donations. Why not Join Team Icky?
- Donate! Even if all you can afford is a couple dollars, hey – it adds up!
- And if you find you’re unable to do either of those, well…share Team Icky’s page to spread the word!

Good luck Icky!
I recently saw Worst in Show when or library got the DVD and I loved it as much as you did. Yes, there were certainly characters who were all about fame. But there was also alot of love as well.
I think it’s great that Jon and Icky are using their fame for such good ends. And if Jon is fostering an “ugly” dog, that’s even better. Not everyone has his rarified tastes in canines. 🙂
Ah Icky is well cool and absolutely lovely looking. And Icky and Jon are doing it all for such a worthy endeavour.
Yes, it’s me, Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet star, leaving this pawsitive comment.
Arf! Arf!…Go Icky! Go Icky! 🙂
