What prompts people to leave their pets behind, alone and trapped, when they move?

Purrl |
Purrl is one such pet. This sweet, affectionate girl was found in a vacated apartment. For three weeks, she had no one tending to her needs, no one to keep company, no one who cared. How she survived that long is a mystery.
When she was found, the beautiful tortie cat weighed a mere five pounds. With medical assistance to feed and stabilize her long-neglected body, Purrl was restored to her healthy, vibrant self. She is now ready for her forever home.
She faces difficult odds of finding that home. Although a people-loving cat, Purrl is frightened by the chaotic, noisy, and strange environment of adoption shows. She’s right at home in a calm, quieter atmosphere, though – so much so that her purr motor begins rumbling at the slightest touch.

If that weren’t enough, she’s an older cat. At 11 years old, many people will turn away from her. I would love to ask those people how they’d feel if the world gave up on them once they turned 40! For Purrl, life has barely begun, and she carries with her the wisdom gained from her past experiences. She knows just how much to appreciate companionship and a loving guardian.
Somewhere out there is a very wise human who will be the purrfect match for this beautiful cat. Someone who will recognize what Purrl offers. After all, she is just what most of us want in a cat – beautiful, affectionate, comfortable with people. And that wise human? They’ll have found their pearl.
Purrl is fully vaccinated, spayed and micro-chipped, and available for adoption in the Chicagoland area through Almost Home Foundation.
Poor sweet girl, I pray the purrfect real home is looking for her right this minute. She is beautiful!
Indeed, how one can abandon such a precious creature just makes me shake my head in bewilderment and in sadness.
Yet, after such an ordeal, the Almost Home Foundation has given her the opportunity to bring joy into a human’s home. Truly, for Purrl, may the world be her oyster, after all.
There’s nothing that can be said to make me understand people who would do this…. She’s a beautiful cat and I hope she finds a forever home for her golden years soon!
It beats me how anyone can leave a pet. It’s just impossible to imagine. I hope that she finds a kind new home soon, and hopefully your blog may help her do that.
Oh gosh, she’s gorgeous!
And I am here to say (to any potential adopters – as my 12-y-o tabby is sprawled out purring on my husband’s lap) that 11 is NOT old.
Thanks for sharing all the kitties’ stories.
We have 3 strays living in the house and 3 in the garage because the tom won’t let them in the house. Which is actually good. My neighbour down the road a few klicks, feeds 9 strays. Summer people come out to the lake and leave the cats behind when they go back to town. It’s disgusting. There should be a law.
Thanks for visiting my blog, Kim. I really appreciate it.
