Over the past year, we highlighted a few cats in need of a home. We chose kitties who faced a harder chance of adoption, and hoped to help in some small way toward the dream of their own Forever Home.
Only two of these have attained that goal. For them, we did the happy dance each time, and think of them fondly as they now lounge happily in their own homes with their own humans.

Mel Freer recently wrote about how her Lady is fairing, after having been lost for 12 excruciating days. In Little Lady: Lost An Update, Mel tells of how Lady, who had been a fearful dog requiring medication and special care, was exceptionally calm since returning – not even needing her meds. Mel decided to adopt her foster, Lady, after she returned. I couldn’t help wonder if the security of knowing she is in her forever home, never to be abandoned again, gives Lady the peace of spirit to finally relax.
It isn’t a stretch, knowing how much our pets seem to know and comprehend despite lacking language skills, that those who are without a home might feel the lack of permanence. Just as foster children feel the loss of the security and love of a home and family of their own, perhaps pets do, too. All the more reason to do whatever we can to find them that home.
The following are the ones still waiting for that dream to come true. They are all awesome kitties, and would bring sunshine and love into the lives of some lucky people. Here’s to making their wish come true in 2012!

Some of Freddie’s Black Kat Klub pals…
These cats and many more are waiting to be adopted in the Chicagoland area – fully vaccinated, spayed/neutered and microchipped, and waiting at Almost Home Foundation.
Each one is so sweet and cute. It breaks my heart that they all need homes
Poor sweeties. I shall be purring non-stop for every single one of them, beautiful they are.
All beautiful kitties who deserve a “furever” home – I hope 2012 is The Year of the Cat!
Hi there,
Yes, it’s me, the lovable Jack Russell dog named Penny.
I know what it’s like to have a warm, loving home. May these adorable creatures realise a warm, loving home very soon.
Pawsitive wishes and doggy kisses, Penny xx
So many cutie pies… my fingers are crossed for all of them!
