One of the many wonderful cats looking for a forever home is Wizard. This boy will wow you, not with magic, but with his own feline style. And his story will melt your heart.
An animal control officer noticed kids throwing rocks at a cat. The officer rescued the cat, transported him to a high-kill shelter, possibly saving his life. This cat had a bleeding gash on his forehead. He was rescued a second time, by Almost Home Foundation, and placed in a loving foster home. The threat of cruel children was now behind him. So was the threat of his life ending too soon at a high-kill shelter.
But the memories remained.
When Wizard first came to his foster home, he was very defensive against anyone trying to come close to him, touch him. He was obviously frightened. Over time, he learned he could trust these people, and grew into a loving cat who can’t resist human affection. He never leaves the floor – it seems he’s afraid of heights, and only he knows why. One of his pupils is enlarged and fixed, perhaps from injury, and that may indicate a problem with vision for him that would make jumping up frightening or difficult. Or maybe it’s because of his scarred past.

His foster mom says, “Inside, Wizard is a great-big marshmallow. He loves being picked up and smooched. He comes to you for affection and is very loving. One day I would like to see him get over his fear of heights. He never even looks out a window because that would involve getting on higher ground. He is missing out some of the awesome things cats get to do because he never leaves the floor.”
Wizard has come far from his frightened, defensive days; actually, he will now pester you for attention! Being on the floor all the time – what better place to reach you than your feet? If he wants your attention, he’ll tap you on a foot, with his paw. And if you don’t respond? He’ll tap your other foot. Smart boy!
This big, beautiful boy is around four years old, neutered and microchipped, and has had his required vaccinations. He’s ready to go home with you. Interested? Live in the Chicagoland area? Wizard is available through Almost Home Foundation. And if you happen to have sliding glass patio doors, I’m thinking you’ll be able to provide a purrfect solution for our loving boy who won’t jump up by windows!
What a beautiful boy he is! And what a story. I hope Wizard gets a forever home soon… one with a sliding door or very low windows.
what a beautiful cat. I hope he finds a forever home soon. Isn’t it amazing how resilient cats are? I am sure that at some point Alex was abused because he used to be so scared around people. But now all those fears are gone…
He’s beautiful! I simply cannot understand how anyone can hurt a cat,. They are so frail and delicate. He’s a beauty and I hope he finds his forever home very soon.
