5/25 UPDATE: A generous donor fulfilled the balance of the ChipIn, which was already at 50% – awesome to hear…and THANK YOU to all who helped!!
5/13 Update: Doreen has updated us; Kiko and Riley are “on the mend”, but Millie has a way to go yet. Test results have not come in yet.
Our dear friend, dog lover and rescuer – Doreen, from DoggiesandStuff – has been having a scary time lately with her own three dogs. We all know it’s hard when one of our pets gets sick; imagine three at once, with an unknown cause or diagnosis!
Two weeks ago, a rapidly-growing bump on Kiko’s ear led to surgical removal and a diagnosis of histiocytoma, a (thankfully) benign skin growth. So she ended the month of April knowing she had a bill incurred with the vet.

She was not expecting what hit her home in May, however. It began with Kiko falling ill – heavy diarrhea and vomiting. Back to the vet, and back home armed with antibiotics. Although Kiko was beginning to recover – Riley, and then Millie also became ill. The reason for all the vomiting and diarrhea has yet to be determined. It’s wearing her out – physically, emotionally, and financially.
Poor Doreen!! She is a woman who is always, always out there doing for others. She cares passionately for dogs, their welfare and the environment. She has personally attended puppy mill sales in order to purchase the dogs and keep them away from the hands of further neglect and abuse. She works feverishly to help find homes for dogs that have been rescued. And she goes out of her way for her fellow bloggers.
PLEASE…if you can possibly donate (even small amounts add up!) –
write about it in your blog,
include the ChipIn in your site sidebar,
spread the word through Facebook, Twitter, emails,

Let’s make sure Doreen can concentrate on her babies, so they and she can get back to the very serious business she blesses our world (and dogs!) with every single day.
Thanks for all you do!

This is the third case I’ve heard of in the past week or so of dogs suddenly getting digestive upset for no known reason. We should keep our eyes open for additional cases and share information.

So sorry to hear that, I know exactly how such a misfortune feels!

Thanks, Jana, I’m sure Doreen will feel a little better knowing she’s not alone!
And speaking of…Vicki! Really? Most definitely, we’re going to have to share information, get to the bottom of this. Thanks for letting us know!
