Ever feel lost on how you could possibly do something to help the plight of homeless animals? With a busy schedule, limited funds, lack of “expertise” – what can you do? You love animals, care deeply for those waiting in shelters, wish that each and every one were no longer homeless… Got a minute?
You have the opportunity to make a big difference for these animals. In addition to all of their great efforts on behalf of animals, Care2, ASPCA and Adopt-a-Pet are sponsoring the America’s Favorite Shelter contest . With a single click of your mouse, you can vote for your own favorite organization.
The grand prize winner will receive $15,000; just imagine if you were able to donate, handing a check to your organization for that amount!!! Let’s call it virtual donating – if your organization wins, you will have contributed toward that check. That’s doing something to make quite a difference.
For pet rescues and shelters, a little money can go a long way. And a larger amount of money – well, that can translate into affording needed expensive medical procedures, adding or acquiring additional building space, programs for workers/volunteers and the community, or maybe even the chance to provide care for more homeless pets that otherwise would be killed.
Whether or not you already spend time/money/energy for the benefit of your local rescue, this month you have a simple way to provide something more for that rescue and a golden opportunity to help make the lives of homeless pets better. Vote.
Go to America’s Favorite Shelter contest; enter your zip code, choose your favorite shelter.
If you don’t have a favorite, please vote for the rescue I’ve worked with since 2005 and can personally vouch for: Almost Home Foundation, 6009. If you do, please take credit for it – let me know in the comments!!
Make a difference.

great job my friend! I didn’t do a post but I DID vote for my shelter!! 🙂
Going to share yours right now!
Thank you, Thank you, and Thank you, Caren! 🙂
Great post. I’ll have to put something up for a couple of local shelters who are in the running (but not if no one knows about it).
We can’t vote from here but wanted to wish you every success. xxx
@Vicky – You should! You could be instrumental in helping them garner more funds. If they don’t know about it, but are already registered, they wouldn’t have to do a thing other than just let people know to vote.
@Schnauzer Days – Sorry, I know it’s only open to the states and Canada; but thank you very much for your wishes!!
