Since 1994, Petsmart Charities has worked with animal rescue organizations, to promote adoptions and work toward a day when there will be no more homeless pets. The organization seeks to assist animal rescue groups, and also provide for ways to improve the relationships of people and their pets. Throughout the U.S. and Canada, Petsmart Charities works in tandem with animal welfare organizations.

Petsmart Charities supports and helps to fund animal rescue groups. Within Petsmart stores, the option to donate is available in a number of ways. Donors can add their cash to collection jars, or have their donation added along with their checkout. This, in addition to special fundraising events, offers customers a variety of ways to help with funding the needs of pets who are cared for until they have their own home. Adoption events are held in the stores, to promote the pets available for homes through animal rescue organizations. Many stores have Adoption Centers, where pets are available for viewing during any shopping hours. Special Adoptathon events are held during the year, held over three-day weekends, to encourage and promote adoptions of these homeless pets.
Petsmart also offers grants; recently programs for spay/neuter, pit bull education, funding for the ASPCA’s research on ID tags and lost pets, even assisting equine rescue organizations with accredidation, have all been funded through Petsmart Charities. Currently, applications are being accepted for grants to assist with feral cat spay/neuter and TNR (trap/neuter/return) programs.
If you’re considering making a donation while you’re in the store, you’ll know that your money is going to saving lives, and improving the ones it touches. Petsmart Charities has helped countless pets find their forever homes.
Sounds like a great organization!
