You hear it in songs, read it in poems, stories and even ads…and we all know the important things in life just seem to be better when an experience forces us to realize and appreciate the value of those things. Love is better the second time around! This could not be any truer for pets in need of a new home.

Anyone working in rescue or adoption will tell you, as well as anyone who’s ever adopted a rescued pet, that there is nothing like the love and devotion from that animal. Additionally, there is a true appreciation you can experience from them, just for providing them with what was formally missing. They know. They understand. And they are grateful to you for giving them a good life, a second chance.
At a time when there is more widespread awareness of homeless pets, it certainly makes sense to consider adopting one. For anyone who is considering a new pet, the recommendation to visit a shelter or rescue organization cannot be understated. What you give to that animal will be returned to you many times over.
Animals are very much like people, in fact perhaps even more so; when they have experienced loss, neglect, abuse or abandonment, they treasure what is good in their lives. You can truly be a hero.
If you’re considering adding a pet to your household, just remember –

Happy Valentine’s Day!
I love you,

Happy Valentines Day! p.s. You won two prizes at Kelly’s Valentine’s Day contest–the bumper sticker and also the book, so please send your snail mail address to me at peggyfrezon(at)gmail(dot)com.
What a perfect post for Valentine’s Day!
Hope you have a day filled with lots of love:)
I love that first photo!
I hope you are having a great Valentine’s Day!
Though I know that all animals appreciate love and a furever home, I do think those that spent time in shelter appreciate it more. I wish I could take them all home, because every pet deserves to live in a loving home.
Hope you have a pawsome Valentine’s Day! I’m spending the day with my three fur kids, and I couldn’t be happier.
Great reminder on this day of love. Happy Valentine’s Day to pretty Cindy Lu and her entire family!
Very true, Cindy lu’s muse. Have a great V-Day! 🙂

Happy Valentine’s Day – to all of you! xo
We agree totally! Happy Valentine’s Day!
So, so, so true! We found our Buster as a stray and have no idea what his former life was like, but we love him enough for several life times. Adoption is definitely the way to go.
Lovely post and you are absolutely right. When we get too old to travel I’m going to adopt loads of animals. I can’t wait 🙂
By the way I just found some very funny cat cartoons on You Tube which might make you smile. Just put in Simon’s cat in the search. The one where he wants his master to wake up is very good and ‘let me in’
Many thanks for your wonderfully generous comment you left for me on my last post. That was really nice of you.
Yep, Amy – most definitely adoption!
@Facing50blog – I love Simon’s Cat! That guy captures the crazy essence of cats so purrfectly;) Sounds like someone’s going to have the most wonderful retirement!
I don’t recall what the comment was, but undoubtedly it was well-deserved! Love your blog!
Such a sweet post! Hope you had a wonderful Valentine’s Day.
So so soooo TRUE!!!
Hope you had a fabulous Valentine’s Day CindyLu ♥
Smooches,
Neeko :o)
