The Greater Good Network is an online resource that combines groups of charitable causes, and provides an easy way for us to do something – even if it’s with just a click of the mouse – to help. Covering people, animals and the planet, the various sites within represent specific causes we can take action on. Whether it’s cancer, hunger, health, the environment, or as with most of us around on this kind of blog – animals – you can find what concerns you and get involved.
GreaterGood.org is the umbrella under which several different sites and organizations flourish, all with the common goal of the greater good for our world. Over $20 million has been raised and contributed to charities around the planet since 1999 when the network was first established. That’s amazing! What is perhaps even more impressive are the avenues the network provides for people to effect change; whether you click daily, sign a petition or send an e-card, the list of issues and ways you can make a difference through the network’s offerings is long and important.
One of the most appealing attributes of the Greater Good Network site is the ability to “donate” freely – without any exchange of money or product – simply by clicking. The Animal Rescue site, for instance, provides food for shelter animals, simply by the number of clicks received. Want to feed homeless animals? Just click on the site each day, you’ll have participated in providing that food, cost-free. By adding the Animal Rescue Site to your Facebook list of “likes”, the posts show up daily on your feed, ready for a click. It just could not be simpler.
If you look a little deeper into the site, there are even games you can play, again for free, which also provide contributions just by your participation. So while you’re whittling away time goofing off on the computer (or bored at work – shh!) you can play a game, provide food for animals. Sweet!! For further entertainment, don’t miss out on the adorable pet videos and the inspiring adoption stories. Then there’s the e-store, chock-full of wonderful things to purchase. Each time you buy something, you are again feeding animals, because a portion of the proceeds is donated.
And yet, there’s more to this site. Through the tabs for Animals in the News, the site’s blog, Pet Care and Wildfacts A-Z, you can learn so much, and enjoy reading all about all kinds of animals. Among other organizations, the site partners with the Petfinder.com Foundation, an all-important resource for pets. One little ol’ website sure can pack a punch! Have an iPhone, iPad or iPod? Well, now there’s an app for that. With their latest program, Touch to Give, The Animal Rescue Site offers a chance to “give” food, treats and care for shelter animals simply with a touch. This app also works with The Hunger Site and The Breast Cancer Site.
GreaterGood.org and the network of charities and organizations it partners with do some wonderful work for the animals on our planet. With our help, that is!
We actually visit that site first thing every single morning and so some clicking and reading!
We go there every day!
