The past few weeks have been insanely busy!! Of course there were all the holiday happenings, and everything that goes with it all – but this was in addition to finals week (school), my parents home from Florida only for the holiday season (you know those snowbirds!) and two special days to put the icing on the cake. I’ve scrambled to put together posts hastily, based on spur of the moment things, with a kiss-and-a-promise to get at our important celebrations.
I’ve been remiss in so many ways, starting with photos. Finally, yes finally, I got myself a camera. This is huge; the last camera I got for myself was in 1983. Sheesh!! Since then, I’ve borrowed my daughter’s or used my cell phone. Not exactly a winning plan that way! So now I’m playing catch-up, learning how to use it, work the software so I can get the darn photos up onto this blog, and begin showing you things.
Things like…the awesome things we won in giveaways! We won a beautiful collar for CindyLu from
Pet Blogs United, made by Doggie Stylish. It took a long time to get here, we kinda had a communication mishap, but it was soo worth the wait. And a stocking full of goodies from Layla’s giveaway! It’s been crushing me that I couldn’t post those. And the holidays, of course, too. So the photos will be up eventually, I just cannot wait another day without at least mentioning these!!
Then there are the special days: our beloved Bo celebrated his Gotcha Day on – of all days – Christmas! After we had fostered him for nine months, and it got to where he behaved so badly at adoption events we had to stop taking him, we gave in to his decision that he stay with us. He fell in love with my son, and my son had fallen in love with him. They had become best-of-buds, and for a furry boy who loved beds more than anything else in this world (okay, maybe right up there with chocolate and chicken) – my son’s bed became his favorite roost. And on Christmas Day, 2008, that became his permanent, forever bed. Bo and Kenny were Christmas presents for each other.
Happy Gotcha Day, Bo! We love you!!
And on New Year’s Day – a very important day in the first place – we celebrated the auspicious occasion of CindyLu’s 3rd Birthday!! The princess wore no crown ( I swear, one of these days I’m going to get her to keep something on her head!!), but dined on extra-special meals, extra treats, and lavished all the attention she so loves. It’s hard to believe she’s three years old! Where has the time gone?? CindyLu is the only one of our pets who is not a rescue, so she’s the only one we actually know the day she was born. She’s truly a “small” dog – always makes you think she’s just a wee baby, needing extra attention and praise. I wish I had a truly “baby” picture of her, she looks so differently now than when Liz first brought her home. But, she’ll always be our Baby, I guess!
Happy Birthday, CindyLu!!
So here we are, the beginning of a New Year. I’ve not been one for resolutions, at least at New Year’s; I prefer to make a resolution when something comes along that I think I should resolve about! But, having this blog for the first time at the beginning of a new year, having a camera now (yay!), having read a post by a blogger who’s planning something really awesome this year on behalf of animal advocacy — I’ve resolved to do what I can to spread the word about the needs of animals, and the people who advocate on behalf of them. And to take photos. And you just know, CindyLu expects plenty of photo-shoots!
Onward, 2011!!
Happy Birthday to Cindy Lu! It sounds like you’ve got a lot going on. Enjoy a little breathing space!
Happy Birthday! Layla wouldn’t keep a crown on her head either. Casey will wear a pink tiara, but he’s a boy so I think he does it for laughs.
Also, happy Gotcha Day to Bo! That’s such a cute story.
Don’t worry about not posting the pictures and things – I have so many posts that I keep remembering I have to do, and they don’t seem to get done often enough.
Hope you guys had/have a wonderful New Year!
Happy Birthday Cindy Lu!!!!
